I have a pair of Mexican Blacks that have produced fine for the last few years however, this year there has been a problem. Both were cooled as usual, several matings took place and the female stated to get larger, however, this morning on checking them the female has shed and passed all eggs at the same time. And it is only one month from the first mating. It is evident the eggs were bad as they were very yellow and soft. If anyone can answer the following it would be appreciated. 1. Is the cause more likely to be the male or female? (however i do not have any other males or females to check)2. Is it usual for females to pass bad eggs prior to the usual gestation period? 3. How long do males produce good sperm? He was an adult when i got him and have no idea of his age but he looks like a youngish, healthy adult. Any input, help or advice would be appreciated (has anybody else experianced this?) Many thanks and apologies for the length of this post.
