So I have a baby knob and I have her in a 10 gallon tank with a heating mat on a dimmer. I've cranked it up all the way but the temp still falls to around 60-62 degrees at night. I bought a lamp to put on there with a black light to put on the tank but before I do that, is there a better way of heating the tank? I use pine shaving for the substrate...should I use sand? Would it conduct and distribute the heat better than the pine? What should I do? I don't want her to freeze at night...although, she doesn't seem to mind the cold because she never goes to heated side anyway. I at least know it's a little bit warmer on the heat mat side at night but she still doesn't use it. From reading other knob posting I know the prefer it cool but I think it's a little too cool in there at night...help?
Thanks!
