Knobs used to be (late 80s-early 90s) very rare in captivity and therefore were all the rage. People snatched up every individual that was bred for very high prices. Many more people bought them thinking they were going to make big money.
The result has been that they are widely bred in captivity and readily available (at much lower prices). A good thing all around.
If you like them, get some. If you are trying to get rich, go to medical school.
