Actually, just the opposite. The side of the earth issue is whether they are in the northern vs southern hemisphere (otherwise Europe would be on the opposite schedule as N. America - they aren't).
All countries in the southern hemisphere (below the tropic of capricorn of course) have winter in June-August and summer in Dec-Feb. That includes all of the extratropical parts of South America, Southern Africa, Australia, New Zealand, the south sea isles and Antarctica.
So if, in fact, he had been in Argentina, he would have to be thinking about cooling his animals down right now!
