I just leave mine together for 3mos. usually mid april - june. they aren't cannabalistic (as adults young ones are), unless you extremely starve the female as males don't usually eat until they've finished their business.
The male will have to have time to court her & she will need to fed heavy as she'll stop eating once eggs start developing. Email me for more detailed info.
