Florida Fish and Game is toying with the idea of allowing select individuals to possess and breed Indigos. They are concerned about the genetic implications of releasing confiscated individuals back into the wild. The plan is to get these animals into the hands of a few selected breeders. Intra-state sales would still be illegal, but you would be able to sell offspring out of state under the current Federal permit system. Anyone else hear of this policy change? If I can get any verification from the Florida Dept. of Natural Resources, I will post a follow up. If true, this could have some interesting ramifications regarding other Florida species. At the moment, Florida residents are only allowed to possess one Florida pine, unless it is amelanistic, and no sales of offspring. I'd love to see them open the door for some of the patternless morphs.
