This area is the well known home to two federally endangered species of birds (the Golden-cheeked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo) already so habitat protection and mitigation on private land is already a priority.
The area the snake was found in is, of course, protected as a state park. Frankly, if most of the indigos in Texas had as much protection as this small population appears to have, they would be a lot better off!
