Disappointing news this weekend.
As I reported several weeks earlier, my first female Texan laid 11 eggs a few weeks ago, 9 of which are obviously fertile and look great.
Last year, I purchased a very nice adult female from Brad S. in Chicago. He admitted at the time of the sale that she had been laying infertile eggs for him, but he (very reasonably I may add) assumed his male was the problem.
Well…in my infinite arrogance I assumed she’d surely produce good eggs for me. I kept her under the EXACT same conditions this fall and winter as my other female and she bred with THE SAME MALE…that gave HER good eggs (she bred multiple times…at least 3 times)
She just dropped 9 eggs that all appear to be infertile.
This one has me stumped. These guys are truly unpredictable.
