That is a real shame about the indigos in SC. The habitat looked perfect! Upland pine forests on the border of palmetto lowlands with a small swamp!
No whips this year, Dan. Last year I found a 6' melanistic whip, but he juked me out of my pants and was gone! My snake list for this trip was :
5 SOUTHERN RINGNECKS
2 DEKAY'S SNAKES
3 SOUTHERN BLACK RACERS
3 BROWN WATER SNAKES
1 CORN SNAKE
1 EASTERN KINGSNAKE
3 SOUTHERN COPPERHEADS
1 EASTERN COTTONMOUTH
1 CANEBRAKE RATTLESNAKE
Not bad considering the tornado/twister going on in the area the first few days I was down there. I also caught some cool frogs like ornate chorus, northern and southern chorus frogs, and spring peepers.
Would've traded em all though to spot a couperi!
