Whew, that boy is getting more bullheaded every day...
No argument w/ trying to be lucky & offering them 1st (2 & third) but eventually when the neonate begins to appear thin as stated in the original post, if the specimen is valuable, my experience is to quit fighting & give it what its pre-programmed for. I have fd. w/ any # of neonate rosy boas, that some will not touch a pinky but will slam a furred one???? Quien sabe...

::I had 2 cluthces born last year and EVERY BABY (18 in all) took mice after the first shed with no problems. They don't like little things that lay there (like a pinky) They like lots of movement, and can take surpizingly large prey. Some of mine took HOPPERS for their first meal.
