In Reply to: Flagyl dosage rates?..dang now heres a post I hate 2-C..... posted by regalringneck on January 24, 2003 at 13:05:55:
:Dagnabit Mr Lee...I hope this has only something to do w/ the unfortunate burned one & nothing else. If any left arent regurging...seperate them into new sterile tubs ASAP.
:I have always introduced mega-doses via small prey & skipped the invasive & stressful methods...problem is...it rarely changes the outcome :(
:Again...FTR...live w/c squamate prey saved ole mojo from my euthanizing him. My rule is 3 pukes & your out!
:E-mail me off line if you'd like my max quarantine methodology.
:Buenas suerte, jg

::I just received some "Metrozol" or more specifically Metronidazole from "The Bean Farm".
::I got it to Flagyl my Cribos and I thought the scientific name sounded very familiar, but I couldn't remember where I knew it from. I used to keep tropical fish and I used this stuff to treat "hole in the head disease"! These are in the capsule form so I will have to open the capsule and mix it with water, but I don't know the correct dosage rates for use on my Cribos.
::If anyone has the dosage rates please e mail me or post it here.
::Thanks

:Regal,
No problems here. I'm just doing it as precautionary maintenence thing. No regurge, or anything like that which is surprising seeing that they are all w.c. snakes. What's more surprising is that they all ate within a day or two from arrival with most of them eating that same day! I didn't know the dosage rates for Flagyl and I usually take any of the w.c stuff to the Vet for fecals and Flagyl treatments, but I figured I would do it myself since I worm the snakes at home.
The burn victim is now at a friends place. He has no snakes so he can dedicate all of his time to that one.
I'll be in touch.
Bobby
