Hi everyone, just checking in. First of all, the baby is still alive, which is a major deal. It laps food from the syringe if I'm holding it, but seems to have no desire to go to the food on it's own. So, despite mental images of a 5 foot lizard guzzling from a baby bottle(just kidding - maybe), I syringe on, and hopefully in a while I'll be asking you all how to "teach" this thing to eat on it's own. The great news is, I have found poop in his water tray each day so his digestive system seems to be working. Just to see what could happen I've been placing fresh food in the hospital tank daily as well, and he's ignoring it completely. I don't want to skip a feeding though to see if he'd look if he were very hungry, he isn't in good enough shape for that. He is moving around on his own, I put a wide stick in there on a slight angle and he is climbing on that to "bask", and he really perks up when he goes outside. I know he must be feeling better because there was a slight amount of tail action last night at dinner time - getting feisty. I'm hoping that the forward progress is going to stick. I won't count on survival though, until it's bigger and eating on it's own. I am very afraid to get too attached and then lose him, so as of yet "it" has no name.
