T....thanks...the picture is so much clearer. Sounds like you have got great help from your vet. I do NOT have personal experience so perhaps this makes my posts null & void, but consider the following websites. As far as at home things you can do is to really take a good look at his diet for maintainence. Dandelion root & or tea may prove beneficial. I spray Dandelion root tea on my female iguanas food. and use it for her water. I'll provide the link (Iguanamomma gave me this one!) also the USDA nutrient database to investigate foods you give so that you can see what foods are high in phosphorus vs the calcium.
Also might want to scroll down...I threw together a list of foods (Quick Look)a week ago I think...namely purines you'd want to avoid in giving your iguana all together .Purines (legumes =beans & peas).I gave you the link to Melissa Kaplans site already so perhaps she has something there regarding long term maintenance as well. Humidity needs to be 60-100% at least 3 hours daily. A Misting system would be beneficial (I have a few links if you want..like Pro-Products) Fluid intake needs to be 15-25ccs per day less if sprayed on foods.Low phosphorus, no purine, limit high plant proteins (Quick Look), high calorie diet(several small meals a day sprinkled with a phosphorus free calcium supplement)Just a few things to help you with his diet.
I gotta get some sleep...but here are a few links to help ya get started.
