Hi Alta.
Good for you that you are thinking of getting a new Ig. As I said before you seem to have the right mind and feeling for having an ig. I don't know how bad the problem is over there, but we have had a lot of problems with animals coming into the vet. clinics and to our zoo with Iguanas with snout totally demolished by vires and nets. Especially if they get stressed up, they will go back and forth and mess their nose up badly!!
Secondly, I dont know the climate where you live, but in Sweden with about 25-35 % rel humidity for 5-6 months, we really need to have totally closed cages with good humidity device AND ventilation to get the right climate. Climate devices are MANY in tecnique and efficiancy and prices, and really hard to get right!
Regarding the wood pieces, just a remark, keep it from getting too close to the UV or the eyes of the Ig can get hurt.
Re size I can only speak for our regulations where that size would only be accepted ( bye law ) for no other than small Iguanas. I always recommend people that get Iguanas to go as big as they can from start, because it's easy to loose the enthuziasm and then not enlarging the cage as the animal grows. It's not unusual that short-time sollutions becomes permanent sollutions!!
