: You guys need to thoroughly disinfect everything with bleach water solution. Mites are super active at night. Flood crevices. Remove basking branches and soak with bleach water solution in tub or bake em 200 deg or put them in a plastic bag tied off and outside for 10-14 days. Mite free basking branches! To get mites/ticks/chiggers off I use Nix can get it at any drug store its for people with head lice . You can also cover your igs with oil, olive, vegetable oil this suffocates the parasites and they fall off. put them in the tub when doing this. Use Q-tip dipped in any oil or the Nix and get parasites off from around the face . Mineral oil is safe for around the eyes. Many Herpers use Provent-a-mite by Pro-Products but the longer the delay in waiting for this product the more parasites will multiply. Time is of the essence. You can also take your igs to the vets. Ivermectin spray & injections are used . It is VERY harsh on their bodies if injections are given. Here are the solution mixes & the site for Pro-products always a good idea to have some on hand especially if you live where parasites like ticks, chiggers & mites are frequent.Exodermal Parasites ARE contagious check any & all reptiles you have. They can be fatal to your igs. They cause mainly anemia.
: Provent-a-mite at www.pro-products.com E-mail Bob Pound (owner) at Promist@bestweb.net

: spray bottles one for disinfecting cage with bleach solution , one for Nix solution (NIX has exact same chemical in it that Provent-a-mite has)

: Youll need:
: Spray bottlesx2
: little cup with Nix solution in it for Qtips
: Q-tips
: mineral oil (may want to use that around eyes if your nervous about the Q-tips)

: Bleach 1oz to 8oz of water
: Nix- 1oz to 8 oz of water......you can also use Nix to spray down your cage

: spray down your iguana with Nix solution after getting him in tub. DO NOT get it in his face (use Q-tips dipped in solution) for the face.

: Repeat the Nix solution in 3 days to get anymore that may have jumped on for the ride or eggs that have hatched. I personally have done it again in one week just to be on the safe side. But usually just the one application works.

:
: I hope this is making sense....just got off work & my brain is scrambled!

: Gina

: thank you for all your help.i hate the thought of my iggi`s getting sick.will this be ok in a wood cage?and how long after can i put them back in there cage?
thank you
michelle(cham3)
