There is a genus of iguanas from Central America extending to Mexico. There a couple of feral species introduced to Florida, S.Texas, and Arizona. The one you are asking about is Ctenosaura simlis more than likely, it is known as the black iguana. It can grow about 4 feet. Spinytailed iguanas are known to be mainly vegetarian, consuming some meat in their diet.
