Some bloodwork and maybe even an Xray. He's the right age for kidney disease and bladder calculi which can be some reasons for lack of urates. It may be related to chronic dehydration, his diet & water intake can be improved. Without a humidity gauge even a huge pan of water may not provide adequate humidity for him...which needs to be 80-100% range at least 3-4 hours a day while he's cooking under those basking lights 10-12 hrs a day. He may be reabsorbing the urates which can start to deposit in tissue. I can see maybe one time no urates and not worry but something is going on to cause him to do this more frequently. All that providing ^ humidity does is slow down the evaporative process, iguanas LOSE moisture thru their skin and breath. Only take in moisture thru their mouths (WATER, WATER and MORE WATER). Anyhoo here's a website for Herp Vets in case you don't have one. Just names & addresses ...need phone directory for #s. Much luck and keep us posted. Sorry if Im a little short...but have one foot out the door ...
