I leave for vacation tonight!! Yeah! Its actually much better to get a sitter for your iguana while you are away~ If its just a weekend than leaving some food in there cage and if you have them on a timer all should be fine. But i wouldn't change there daytime hours! Iguana's react poorly to change~ Another reason you should not just go away and hope all will be okay without someone to check on them! I have family that will swing by and take care of my pets! If you have no friends or family that want to help you out than i would check with the local petshop or vet for someone who you could hire to come by and feed and water your ig. Or some pet stores or vets will board them for you. But i prefer not taking them out of there invironment, as they hate change! Mine usually has an attitude if anything out of the ordinary happens! I am sure when i get back he will let me know how displeased he is!LOL~ Other reptiles are much easier to leave on there own~ I don't think my snakes even notice i am there except when its feeding day!hehehe~ Oh and about having live plants in his enclosure, he is sure to make a huge mess of it and they tend to try to eat planter dirt which can have bad things in it! Why they eat dirt?? Everyone seems to think it has to do with something they are craving??? I just think they are very strange green lizards that need lots of supervision!! Have fun~~ Tiff
: I was wondering what people do with thier iguanas especially sub adults if you are away for 3 or more days or even a week. I was thinking of having the lights go on for only 2 hours a day and putting out some commercial igauna food for them to eat maybe some of the moister brands along with a water dish. And if I can find some plants that they can eat in a planter like dandilions or collared greens and just have it grow in the cage while I'm away. It probably is hard to find those kinds of plants though.
