Wow, Mel and I just had a really good day. I spent the whole day pampering her.

Sierra (19 mon old human daughter) slept through the night, so mom got some rest. Got up on time and got Mel's lights going. Noticed that the fog and overcast had cleared around nine. We have had fog and overcast mornings for the last week or so. And since the porch only gets sunlight in the mornings there wasn't much sense setting her out there. But today gone at nine leaving a nice sunny porch. Took Mel (and Sierra) out there. Mel basked while I hand fed her some greens. After about an hour she headed inside for her favorite perch, the back of the loveseat.

I spent the next hour with Sierra surprisely content snacking in her highchair. This gave me a chance to make a batch of ig salad. I did it with the food processor I got for Mother's Day. Now before anyone goes tearing my husband up I must say that this was exactly what I asked for. Now instead of three hours chopping and grating preparations took just one. WHAT A WONDERFUL INVENTION!

Then we all went back out on the porch were Mel enjoyed more sun and a dish of freshly made salad.

Mel spent the next hour inside in out. She knows just to walk up and put her nose on the door and I will open it for her. Finally it came time to pick up my son from school. And OMG my husband actually watched Mel while I went to get him. Maybe he will warm up to her yet. If you don't believe that these green guys get to you just ask my hubby. It has been over a year since we lost Izzy (Ken's baby). He swore he would never fall in love with another ig. That man is nothing if not stubborn.

After arriving home Mel took a good long soak with Kyle doing most of the tending. She has got a nasty tail shed going. Then she roamed some more while I cleaned her enclosure. Kyle watched her and they are so cute together. He lays down next to her and pets and talks to her. Finally I returned her to her clean enclosure where she settled in.

It was such a nice, relaxing iguana day!
