Has anyone ever pulled off a spike shed too early? I think I

may have done that today. Baby's head and neck area have shed recently and his first few spikes (the largest ones) looked ready to shed as well. This morning I gently worked the first one off but was mortified to see that the tip was more like a blood vessel(he still has 90% of his spike though). By the end of today the end had shriveled up and is thin like hair. I feel just terrible about it and want to know if I have ruined this spike and if there is something I should put on it to keep it from getting infected, etc. It did not bleed at all.

On a happier note.....Baby is coming in and out of his enclosure at least half a dozen times each day. He has started jumping up on the couch, even when someone is sitting there, but is still a little leary of us. Anyone think there's a chance he'll be a "lap" Iguana? In other words, one that likes to climb in your lap and be petted? I've heard of others like that and I'm hoping!!!! He is definitely feisty right now and we had to cover up the mirror in our bedroom. He likes to go in there and mess with the reflection. My hubby and I joke that he gets his daily workout that way. I just don't want it to get out of control. I've heard some can really injure themselves that way. Well, enough rambling. Please let me know what you think about his spike. Thanks! J
