sorry bout that!...Im not sure Linda which is "better than the other" Tofu has prolly equal amts of protein as the alfalfa(pellet form)...but tons more calcium and like a 3.5:1 CA:P ratio. Alfalfa pellets...like the ones MK recommends in her salads & slurries seem to "turn off" many igs.Might be the smell or the gritty consistency that it leaves the salads in . Alfalfa pellets do have alot of "soy" in them...soy=protein. Im not sure what the percentage of soy/protein in them.

Might have better luck with Alfalfa mini hay bales...like for rabbits...Igs seem to like the smell better.Im using timothy hay right now. Can use that too. wet & cut(I cut it with a good scissor). It does have less protein in hay form

the reason I believe MK uses it(pellets) & I use it(hay form) is because its soooo high fiber! and right now getting my igs pooping regularly is a big deal. Also Ive added tofu to Feo's diet and will do so for the next few weeks cuz of his surgery, he needs the extra plant protein, to build him back up. Igs need high fiber , high calcium diets...ideally you would get that with both alfalfa hay and tofu combined..but even plant protein synthesis is hard on their kidneys...so use either(pellets or tofu)occasionally or if they need it. I always up the plant protein in their diet if they've had a bleed (lost nail), are sick (antibiotics or dewormed), lost weight,or surgery but only for a limited time.If your igs are needing higher fiber in their diet...switch over to the hay...your ig will prefer that I bet, high fiber & they can eat it daily cuz of the lower protein. if you are needing higher protein and great calcium...go to the tofu. Does any of this make sense? or am I confusing you...lol Welcome to Iguana Forum Linda lol!!! Where answers are in multiple choice form and I confuse the heck out of everybody whenever I post! (comes from working weird hours I think) ;o)
