I would not use wire on the cage (period). It is very rough on toes & faces,-- even the tamest iguana has a moment of just "having to get out of the cage RIGHT NOW!" When they outgrow aquariums, you can make a cage out of counter top material & cheap plexiglass with wire on top (where they don't generally go) for lights. After building a couple cages, I bought some on line as they are not that much more expensive than building them yourself (worth it to me anyway). They should be arriving any day now-- look up a Retptile Depot site-- they have some great cages made of melamine with glass sliding doors-- & they are stackable (great for me with a Beardie & an iggy). My iggy has managed to rip his horn off as well (damn! I loved that little horn) I am wondering if it will grow back-- if anyone knows (scales are regenerating, but I doubt it would go that far).
Good luck with the nose & keep up with the ointment.
