: I know your story isn't funny, but I did laugh. It reminded me of ME when I was little! I was always bringing something home (snakes, baby birds, dogs, cats, etc.) My mother just about lost it when I walked in the kitchen with a snake once. I couldn't have been any older than 1st or 2nd grade!
: To answer your question about how "involved" any of our kids are in the care of pets, my answer has to be "not very". Lola is/was suppose to be our daughter Hillary's pet. She has always wanted an iguana. It took me about 2 weeks to talk Harry's Dad into bringing her home. Hillary promised to "take care of her". Hills was 13 years old at the time (now 15). About the only thing Hills does is poop Lola after school every day. And this usually involves threats of grounding her if she doesn't! LOL You really can't expect a child to take full responsibilty for a care of any pet. Help out, yes. Don't be too hard on your son. We were all young once. What you did by making him take the lizard back and release it ws the right thing to do. I'm sure he learned something from this experience.
: Sue (I'm still chuckling)
