Becuase I love herps, I just got a second job at the local pet
store so I could spend more time w/ the babies. We have some iguanas
who were quarantined apparently becuase they had mites. They look
really bad. _*REALLY*_ bad. Some of them have parts of their bodies
on which there is no green skin, but this white/clear hard stuff.
I guess it is the second layer of skin? Or scar tissue? They have
build up of unshed skin which has restricted growth in some areas.
Other than that they SEEM ok. Except for this one guy, who's the one
I'm really worried about. It takes him forever to open his eyes, and
he's scrawny, emaciated and weak. So, I have a bunch of questions:
1) most importantly, what can I do to help him (the little one)?
Is there something special I should feed him? Should I quarantine him
and raise the temp? Why can't he open his eyes? And why isn't he
eating?
2) What can I do for the others to help their skin grow back? Do they
need to be extra dry or extra wet or extra warm for this? Are
there any comercial products I might use to facilitate the process?
Is this common or severe?
If you could point me to a good iguana care site, I would really
appreciate it, as I want to help the little guys out. Or if you
could answer my questions here, I'd be eternally gratefull. Any
help/advice is MOST appreciated.
