Marie and baby Sapphire visited our home a couple weekends ago. What makes this photo so interesting is that Vega$ allowed Sapphire on her basking spot. Vega$ is a very alpha female; she'll toss the beanie T-Rex, the stuffie tuatara and the iguana eye-animal out of the area. She won't let a living green iguana near her area. She gives the major shudder bobs, high/low bobs and gapes. However, with Sapphire, she didn't even pay any attention to her. Sapphire made herself comfy right on the basking spot; Vega$ (gazing nearby from a ladder) paid no heed. Later, we put Sapphire next to Vega$ on her basking spot; no problem either. I speculate it's the combination of the fact that Sapphire does not really resemble a green iguana and that Sapphire is small. Vega$ is generally provoked by anything that apparantly resembles a green iguana.
Interesting, eh?
