Update on Richey and Nicky

Posted by Kitty on May 01, 1999 at 22:04:51:

Today I bought some Betadine and give the two a Betadine bath. It was a difficult job, because I had to stand there and hold their heads up out of the water. They're both too weak to even hold their heads up, and they kept falling asleep.
After the bath, Morgan and I took them outside for some unfiltered sunlight. They were so light I was afraid a gentle breeze would blow them out of my hands. Richey seemed alert and peered about curiously, but Nicky simply sat there and slept. I never thought lizards were capable of narcolepsy until I met these two. Morgan force fed them mustard greens and carrots, and I gave her a quick explanation as to why she shouldn't give them carrots. Apparently when I told her collards were good, she heard carrots instead. It was an honest mistake, and I'm sure she's not going to do it again. Morgan was surprised at how she had such a desire to take care of them, she claimed that iguanas bring out the parental instincts in people. I'm sure we all know wot she meant!
I think if Morgan and I keep up wot we're doing, there's a chance that these two guys will live. And I already know of several people who'd be willing to adopt them when they're healthy again.
