This would be Lightning's first breeding time since her spaying last summer. She's been moody lately as if she were in season and copping a lot of attitude. The other day I stuck my hand in to fill her water bowl and she gave ONE warning hiss and then bit the "oomph" out of my forearm! Even when I come bearing food she hisses at me and snaps....all this week! She's not done that to "Daddy" but she also has only come out of her enclosure twice this week to him. Thunder and Goliath (bd) went outside today for sun and she refused to budge. We'd been able to coax her out earlier in the week but she spent the whole time trying to get us to let her back in the house *sigh*
Since nothing appears to be wrong with her, I was wondering about something. I'm not sure how to ask this. You see a human can have a hysterectomy (spay?) and still go thru the motions of menopause complete with hot flashes. So is it possible that Lightning is feeling like she should be mating (but apparently with someone other than Thunder LOL) and trying to become gravid? I know Thunder is trying his best to get her attention and "get friendly." She won't have a thing to do with him though.
Anyone have any thoughts on this or experience?
