Kitty's Pet Store Crusade

Today my dad and I went to several local pet stores to hunt for a new cage for Dexter. We went to five different pet stores. Here's my story:

Pet store 1 - I looked in the reptile section, and was horrified. The waterbowls had feces in them, and there were two baby iguanas that were very skinny and their scales were an ashy brown colour. They were both sprawled on the bottom of the enclosure with their eyes closed. There was also the dried-up, rotten remainds of lettuce in the food bowl. I was too sickened to yell at the people working there, and the two teenage boys behind the counter didn't look like they knew wot they were doing. So I grabbed a business card, and marched out of the store. They'll soon be getting a complaint letter from me.
Pet store 2 - A very nice change from the other one! They had a lovely pond with a red-eared slider that kept sticking his head up from the water to check out the customers. There were kids running around the store with parakeets and hampsters on their shoulders, and the reptile section was very clean and the animals looked like they were in very good condition.

Pet store 3 - It was a PetCo supply store. I'm not a fan of pet corporations, but they had lots of nice supplies. I bought a bunch of stuff for Dexter's new cage, and was so excited I was hopping up and down when good ol' dad was paying for them. Sometimes I think he worries about my mental health.

Pet store 4 - I wandered over to the reptile section, and was once again sickened. All the water bowls had a layer of muck that must've been half an inch thick, and there was one water dragon whose cage was too small. The poor thing had rubbed off quite a bit of its face trying to get out. I got the manager's phone number, and she will definately be hearing from me.

Pet store 5 - Another PetCo. This one was bigger, and had a reptile section. PetCo has really cleaned up its act. They had two baby iguanas that looked fairly healthy, and other animals with clean enclosures that looked like happy animals to me. My dad kept making faces at the savannah monitor! It was quite amusing to watch.

Well, that wraps up my story. Dexter's gonna be one happy lizard when he gets his new cage!
