ok ok ... they *don't* get this big! but it *is* a pic of iZ ...

: What size tank does an ADULT ig need?
mine is 5 foot and has his own room ... remember, they live in *trees* ... they like to be up *high* ... unless your ig is *very* small, even a giant tank won't get it ...

How much will it eat??
iZ eats 2 good sized ig-salads a day ... one of them would make a decent meal and fill *me* up ... the food isn't really expensive, but some greens can be hard to find in some areas ... and you can really only get a weeks worth at a time or it spoils ...

Do they make good pets?
depends on who you ask ....

What other things do they need?
most importantly, they need a person who has done *alot* of research + planning .... (glad you're asking *first* ... *grin*)
full spectrum lights
heat lights
a **very** large enclosure (or it's own room, specially heated + humidified!!!)
things to climb on ... iZ has lattice, tree limbs and shelves in his room
(i know there's more i'm not thinking of right off hand ....)

Is their anything else I should know Before I get an Ig??
igs get *very* big, *very* fast ... an enclosure that is perfect now, will be too small in six months ... iZ went from 30" (nose - tail) to 5 feet in TWO years ... (*i* was not prepared for that! *grin*)
igs do not get "tame" like a cat/dog (tho are *are* some exceptional igs!)
they need special care and environment ... just a wire cage won't get it ... it needs to be large enough to climb around in and large enough to have warm spots and cooler spots ... and it needs to be on the humid side ...
finding a reptile vet is *very* important (and darn near impossible in some areas ...!) any ig that you bring home will need to be taken in for a check-up and checked/treated for any parasites ... like puppies/kittens igs have worms until they're treated ...
they need consistant attention on a daily basis to get to know + trust you (+ maybe even *like* you!) ... no more spur of the moment weekend get-aways! you can't just leave a couple days worth of food for 'em and go ... i've had my hubby take care of iZ when i've been under the weather and even *that* irritates his dragonship! they do *not* like change!!! an angry 5' ig is an impressive site ... (preferrably viewed from across the room ....)

do lots of reading of ig-sites *before* you decide! and good luck!!!
