Never had any Iguana chew on white stuff for calcium...depending on what it is being fed and how well it is supplemented, it should not be chewing on anything...

I think stress might be the culprit, or maybe just boredom...unless it is really hungry (**smiles**)

Question, what and how much of what, does the animal eat and how often? Is your BF giving a varied veggie diet and using calcium supplements?

And handling; does this Iguana get handled and talked to and stuff? All these factors might be contributing...

Hope it all works out...let us know if the chewing has stopped yet or not, and see if you can find out this stuff from your BF...it might be good for him to come to the forum himself and read some of the posts regarding general care and behavior so he can better pinpoint the cause of the problem...

Good luck!
: Thanks for the input, I appreciate it, alot. I will make sure my bf reads over them!
: I was sorta wondering if maybe she was a bit low in calcium, because the rope is white, and a lil bit shiny. And if my info's correct, many reptiles are attracted to white objects in an attempt to get calcium... ??? Or maybe the stress of the new room? Also, I learned she's always been very attracted to loose frilly ends of rope! (but the piece she chewed on wasnt frilly, just long and only tied on one end (it was part of an almost finished ladder)hmm...) So my bf's been making the frilly ends as small as possible, and placing them where she cant get to them. He did try melting, but supposdly it didnt work out with the rope. I dont know if she still is chewing or not, Im hoping she stopped, cus my bf hasnt mentioned it. I will post an update later when I find out for sure. Thanks again, have a great long weekend everyone!
