Hi All,
I read a posting on another board about hatching iguanas. Please, please, don't do this! I would think most of us here, know and understand, why NOT, to do this; but I'm going to say something about it. First off and most important is this....we don't need any more iglets in this world!!! As on the other board posting, wholesalers do a fine job of breeding iglets into this world ( like rabbits ). For my self being a member of a rescue group and seeing all the reports of dying or close to dying iguanas; I am a stronge believer that no one should breed iguana's for quite sometime ( even wholesalers ). Green Iguana's are NOT endangered any more,...although their natural lands will probably never support them again, like they did long ago, due to humans and their need for land. But the population of green iguanas in the world is far from endangered. If you want to see a birth.......I suggest get a guppy....they drop babies about every 5 minutes. I hope someday the cost of owning a iguana is at least up to 200.00 or more, so it stops people who just want a iguana to show off to their friends. These same people will grow tired of their iguana's, then group's like the one I am in, will have a rescue and find a GOOD home for the iguana. Some of these igs will need major medical treatments before they can be placed and some will never make it. I don't want to take up any more time with this cause I could go on for hours with this subject! So please, even if you might feel it would be enjoyable to watch iglets hatch, DON'T do it PLEASE!! Think of all the ones that die!!! Help stop the deaths! Adopt a unwanted iguana and give that ig some true love!!
Just something off my chest!
Harry's Dad...who's going to take a chill pill now!
