Hi Tim,
Thanks, my girls are blushing.... Nope, nope,
nope on the dog food. Your little guy should
live to be well over 30 or even 40, take it slow.
Go to MK's site it lists on the good food items.
Hey, as from taming him down... try just placing
your hand in the cage for 15 mins a couple of
times every day. do not touch him or go near him
just have your hand in the cage at the opposite
end from him. when he gets used to this place a
treat in the cage at the same time that your hand
is in there... don't hold the treat or have it
next to your hand. you want him to just eat it
while your hand is in there. If he does not eat
the treat with your hand in there take it out
after 15mins (at the same time that you remove
your hand). Try this every day. He will start
eating the treat with your hand in the cage.
after a few weeks of him eating the treats, place
the treat on the other side of where your hand is
so that he has to cross by or over your hand to
get it. If it does not work after a week go back
to the treat be closer to him for a week or two
until you think he is ready to walk by you freely.
This is a good way to get him use to you.
He will learn that your hand is not in there to
grab him up and he should start coming up to you
to get is treats after a month. This worked
with my Rhino. She is the biggest Puppydog now,
but when I brought her home she would open her
mouth and whip her tail at me if I walked into
the same room as her. NOw I take naps in the
park, while she roams around me munching on
dandelions. THe most important things is for him
to learn that your not go you hurt him. These are
really smart fellows, if your hand is not chasing
him and is just bringing treats, what is there to
be afraid of?
Boy, do I ever have a tendency to "babble!"
Take care,
Joe III
