well, i wouldn`t worry so much about what size the food is as long as you can get your ig to eat it. petrie loves to tear his big leafy greens apart himslef. as a treat i`ll leave one whole for him to tear through. it makes me laugh the way he gets all bug eyed when i leave it bg for him, kinda like hes saying now thats a meal!! he jumps for em he loves em. just find the way your iguana prefers its food and try to serve it that way. it really makes a difference in how they eat. as long as they aren`t picking certain things outof the food and leaving alot behind i would leave it bigger if thats the way your iguana wants it.

if you would really like him to eat the shredded foods, you need to be committed to serving just that. a lot of people will try for a few days just serving a certain thing and after a few days they`ll give in and serve another. you can`t get him to eat new foods if you do that, he`lllearn that if he holds out he`ll get what he wants. so if it really is important for him to eat a salad then that is all you must serve. just put it down fresh every day and see if eventuallly he`ll eat it.

as far as fruit goes, my iguana really isn`t fond of it either. try getting organic baby food in fruit flavors and putting it on his leafy greens. after awhile maybe he`ll get accustomed to its taste and learn to like fruits. keep offering it as well. try brightly coloerd fruits to attract him to them. try dried fruits like raisins and figs. just keep experimenting with it.

: Question. I see lots of people posting about shredding of finely chopping veggies/greens so their iggys can't be finicky. I've tried that, to an extend, but Carlos will not touch it. If I tear up his greens in small pieces (1/2 size of his head or a bit smaller) and chop his veggies fairly small, he'll eat all of them.

: I'd like to get him to eat the shredded/chopped salad cuz i know he'll get more of what he needs, but at the same time, I don't want him to go a few days without eating because i'm putting down stuff he doesn't like.

: Suggestions?

: OH.. usual menu includes:
: dandelion greens, collards, mustard & turnip greens, arugula, watercress, butternut squash, yellow squash, zuchini, and green beans (maybe 2 chopped)

: Also, he will NOT eat fruit. I've tried apples, mango, grapes and even banana. He won't touch it. I've seen him eat one or two small pieces of mango, but that's it. Weird or normal?
