Excellent idea about the noise from the lights! It drives me completely bonkers, and gives my daughter a headache. I can hear it really loudly as soon as they come on and often no one else can. Both my daughter and I can smell them too. It's an AWFULL smell - kinda like burning electrical smoke. Yes we totally thoroughly checked everything. The smell does come directly from the bulb and goes away (or do we just get used to it?) after a few minutes.
With herps sensitve to vibrations the buzz must really affect them, and I don't know anything about their sense of smell, but I suspect it's a lot better than mine!Now we have something else to worry about!
