Hi Martin,

We built sneakers cage in a closet. Sneakers is small, 5" SVL, 16" overall. We wanted to have easy access to her while she was getting used to us and have the ability to expand the cage for when she is an adult. Right now her cage is 7" long x 16" height x 28" deep. Again she is just a baby. We use 3 sides of the closet covered in melamine and plexiglass on the front. The top is small screen with hardware cloth on top of that and in a sturdy wood frame. This summer we will be taking off the top and giving her the 6ft in height and putting doors on the front. The only thing down the road we will have to do is more depth. We think (could be wrong) this will last us a couple of years. She may end up with her own room.

We use 2 heat lamps on top of the cage. One 100watt at one end, this usually keeps that end at 90-95 degrees, another in the middle at 75watts, 80-85 degrees and nothing on the other end of the cage, 75 degrees. She has two basking places, one on the hot end and one in the middle. She usually hangs out on the basking limb on the hot end, once in a while in the middle and rarely at the cool end.

A water tub is placed under the basking branch at the hot end. It is big enough for her to totally get in and soak. The heat lamp at that end keeps the water warm also. The branches in the cage are covered in a silk ivy plant and she hides among the leaves.

I've looked at a lot of cages, especially in magazines and on the internet and they all seem a little small. The ones that are nice and big seem to cost a small fortune.

Good Luck, Joan
