I just got this reptile store magazine and they were trying to sell an all wire cage and calling it the perfect iguana house??? I know an all wire cage might be okay for an outside cage but could not keep any humidity in. We made our new cage from one of those huge refridgeraters they use for soda in stores! Basically we left the front glass doors on(nice sliding ones) and took the back sliding doors off, we replaced them with a huge board and cut a big hole in it for ventilation. Plus a couple small ones near the bottom. We covered the holes with a heavy duty wire mesh. Of course placing the correct heating and lighting inside(my husband is very handy) I painted it and helped put the big pieces of oak inside for it to bask and climb on. Also i added a nice pool of water and some vines to make it look jungle like. The great thing about it is it actually has a hole in the bottom to drain it if i need to wash it out! Even though i don't think i will need to much as he has taken to his pool of water to use the bathroom! So far i love this new set up & even more importantly so does my iggy! The only problem is its one HEAVY cage!lol~ Tif
