In Reply to: She's laid one egg today, what now? Help!!! posted by Christy on April 11, 1999 at 13:37:38:
: Our 3 year old iguana finally laid an egg, however it was a little more unexpected. No digging in the dirt box in the cage. She was in the tub for 15 minutes like her usual day starts, and then 10 minutes later, right on the living room floor...POW! There it was, a fairly clean process I might add. I know there are many more to come, but do they usually come in long intervals like this. She is back in the cage and in her warm friendly environment where hopefully she will finish up. What can we do to make it easier for her today.? Will she finish today? She appears to not be suffering through any "labor pains", in fact she looks very normal considering she is pregnant. Please take the time to answer if you have good advice. Thanks!
Does she have a suitable place to lay her eggs? I've heard that the best egg-laying environment is something like a trash can on its side with dirt on the bottom so the iguana can bury her eggs. Keep in mind that in the wild, there's lots of critters that would love to get their jaws on some iguana eggs!
