Odd Shedding

My iggy Spot, is in the process of shedding. On the left side of his face where the 'scale' is he's shedding weird. It's black and kinda crusty. It's loose though and looks like it'll fall off after a couple bathes. Is this something serious? I know he doesn't have mites or anything like that. He's going to the vet next week to have his fecals checked again (had him on meds for parasites). I just want to make sure he'll
be ok till then.
