I'm sorry, I haven't figured out how to answer a follow-up properly. I think I just sent myself an e-mail! This is my first time trying to communicate with anyone. I should say I live in Canada and my time zone seems to be quite different from yours.
With that in mind, when I say I "acquired" Allowishus, I sure didn't find her walking around outside! It is still freezing here. She was, however, sitting outside of a pet store in a completely empty cage. A young man who also owns an ig found her there. As soon as he put his hand in the cage she scooted up his sleeve. Considering this kind of treatment he refused to take her back into the store. Knowing I had just spent a small fortune on vet bills for surgery on my daughter's bearded dragon, he felt I would look into her care and be able to provide for her. What a task, but boy does she have a cute face. I have been on this stupid computer pretty much non-stop looking for info. Needless to say I have a hard time because I am completely "net-challenged". I do know a lot about iggy care now though! That is a good thing because we are babysitting a GGI through the cold times for my daughter's boyfriend (the same young man) who now has a complete array of vita-lites and recipes for iggy salad! Not so good for my poor husband though - he had to immediately take time off work to buy supplies and build a huge iggy cage. Luckily the first site I found was Melissa Kaplan's.
Back to my baby - every day I give her a little iggy salad. She never touches it except to run through it, and once she ran away in terror from a piece of watercress I was gently wiggling to look like a bug. Thank-you for your input, the pictures of uros were great. That eliminates them though. I am pretty sure she is a spiney-tailed iguana, and one or more types may be carnivorous. I just can't find any pictures to be sure. Also their sizes range from very small to very big, and I need to know so Pete can build me another cage. I of course also need to know temps and humidity levels, desert or rainforest, etc. I think I will try to syringe-feed (not force) her some Gatorade or Pedialyte tonight, with salad juice. I really think I have some sense of knowing how these creatures feel (I've watched them a lot, etc.) and I just know I have to do something for her quickly.
Sooooo... if you know of some spiney-tailed iggy pictures please let me know. Thanks again.
