In Reply to: Can my iguana eat bacon? posted by buffaluphagus on May 18, 2003 at 18:07:55:
Ummmm..... I'm not sure if this is a joke or not so I'll just answer..... Iguana Aren't suppose to get any Meat Product weather Bugs, Mice, or..... Bacon..... They are Strictly Veggitarians. A Proper Diet is 60% dark Leafy Greens like Collards, Mustard, Turnip, Dandelions, Escrole, endive, etc etc etc. NOT Lettuce, It has no Nutrition. And 30-35% Veggies Like Squash, Bell Pepper, Zucchine (sp?), etc etc etc, and then 5-10% fruit like Straw, Blue, Black, and Rasp Berries, Melons, Mango, etc etc etc.
Bacon isn't healthy for people (not preaching cause I eat it to but it's true) and We're designed to eat meat. Iguana's aren't designed for Meat. So ask yourself what the bacon is gonna do to your ig. I'm not trying to be mean or snotty or whatever. I'm simply trying to make you understand the point I'm making..... Hope this helped! :D
:I just got my iguana a few days ago and when i was eating breakfast and it was begging for some bacon so i gave it some bacon is that ok? I mean i know that they are suppose to eat fruit and stuff, whats a little bacon gonna do?
:thanks
