I know Louie LOVES to take a big collared leaf out of my hand, bite at a time. Sometimes she will keep chewing and chewing and chewing....until the entire leaf is in her mouth (minus the stem)! I assume that because she is hungry and iguanas swallow their food whole that they can take large chunks and be fine (as long as the stem is not included). We both enjoy feeding a large leaf and letting her bite off her choice of size..it keeps our relationship on the upps :)
: How big is he? It sounds like a good idea to me.. bite=greens for picky eater! I wouldn't worry about the size of the greens if they don't have any STEMS in them (even big iguanas can have trouble with these). If it is a leaf without stems, they can manage a pretty good size one. Did he look like he was choking or anything? If so, it was too large, obviously. Did he have to stop several times to rest while eating the one piece? (too large) If he just took awhile to eat it without these problems, then it was fine.
