yes Iguanas are tropical animals and need high humidity (60-70+)and heat (about 90/50 for warm spot, 80/85 for cooler spot)what kind of cage is it, a reptarium? i have one for my iguana, Zephyr. its temporary for a few months until I can get a real cage. the measurements for the largest (260g) are i believe 31" 72" 31 and i have an internal structure-made of plywood and bamboo-for him to move. there are 4 levels which include a bath to soak in, his food and water bowl, and the top level gets him within about 8 inches of the ceremic heat emitter and heat lamp and uv light. i have a shower curtain wrapped around to help keep in humidity, along with mistings-many times daily. he also gets a bath every day. once hes in a real cage (pvc/mesh in Florida outdoors)i think i will use the reptarium (made by apogee) for a chameleon, who knows ;) thats abuot the only animal that its good for. well ive heard debatable things about sugar gliders too. anyway i got this cage because it was the ONLY ONLY ONLY option for me. maybe your friends nephew should look into making a cage, keep in mind an adult iguana will be around 5-6 +/- feet long and will need an enclosure at least 6ft long, 6ft high, and 3 or 4 feet wide with lots of branches and climby things =)
Sarah (best of luck)
