At what distance does the bulb supposedly cover a 12 inch circle?

The further the bulb is from the subject (the iguana in this case), the larger the area of coverage. The flood bulbs should cover most if not all of a suitable sized iguana cage at about a 6 ft distance (which is just fine for a mercury vapor bulb).

:Someone on another message board made the statement that the Merc Vapors only cover an area in a 12 inch circle..Wouldnt that only be true with the "spot" variety...Shouldnt a "Flood" light create a larger area of UV coverage... I know MR D. is mourning right now. He had the true knowledge with these bulbs. I have the flood bulbs and figure that my igs have the proper coverage...Anyone? Lyn
