doesn't mean you miss out on all the breeding season fun! My female Zok is currently going thru her first season and it is driving us nuts! She went off feed and started scratching wanting to get out,...all the time. I don't think there is an inch of our apt that she hasn't investigated. This is an ig who never wanted to come out of the cage! We came home one evening and the bottom of the cage was covered with blood. She had scratched several of her front claws down to the ends of her toes trying to dig her way out, as well as buggering up the end of her nose. Scooping her up for the trip to the vet I found 1 egg. The vet checked her and there are more. We are waiting to see if she will lay on her own, She has a nest box and there has been lots of digging and dirt throwing but no more eggs. If she doesn't lay soon its back to the vet for surgery to remove the eggs and while shes open she will be spayed so there are no more problems next year! So you see each sex has its own inherent problems with breeding season.
