I also have goldfish. Started off with 5 tiny fish in one of the plastic kiddie wading pools.. but they were originally feeders for my red ear.. well he didn't even try to eat them. So when I brought him back indoors in the fall they inherited his pool and I turned it into a planted pond : )

Well 2 died of ?? and now the remaining 3 are going on 3yrs and are almost 5 inches long. I am sure they'd be much bigger if they weren't left outdoors in the winter, but they still have grown a lot from the itty bitty feeder fish they once were.
I have other fish too, bettas, lots... and many other animals the kids and I enjoy very much. Having animals does make homeschooling a lot of fun : )
