I am convinced that he received some trauma to his spikes during his two days at the vets a couple of weeks ago. The tips are actually black and have no blood supply. I cut them off and nothing happened other then it looks a lot better. It didn't hurt him in the least--he never even blinked. Like I said, I thing he lost the blood supply in the tip.

::I took Hercules out of his cage today. I noticed about a week ago some of spikes were turning brownish black on the tips. When I touched them they were hard. He recently started shedding too on his spikes. Today I pulled the shed off of the spikes and noticed that on like 10 spikes the tips are flimsy and black. They almost feel wet. The base of those spikes is normal. I was thinking that it could have been caused by the people handling him at the vet. Like they put towels over him and bent the spikes or something and they died. Has anyone had this happen and should I be concerned?
