my cage is NOT those dimensions. My ceiling with ceiling fans will not allow it to be that tall and it is not quite that wide or deep. Here are my dimensions:
CAGE DIMENSIONS
5'6" HIGH
5' WIDE
3' DEEP

I know for a fact that most rescuers cannot have a ton of iguanas in cages that size either. I think those are extreme dimensions...nice if you can do it but not necessary. I assure you that my iguana does not act understimulated or upset about being in this cage. In fact, he loves his cage. He is allowed to free roam when I am home on the nights and weekends but his favorite place is the top of his jungle gym under his lights. The only time he is unhappy in his cage or in my entire house is during breeding season when I think he would claw at the ends of the world searching for a female! That is when he roams the entire house clawing at every door and even the fire place.

Now if you are the type that never ever lets your iguana out, perhaps that size cage is necessary but I really think you should NOT own an iguana if you never let him out anyway. You can put my iguana or bearded dragon anywhere in the house....they will make a beeline for the lizard room and into their respective cages. They have marked their cages as their main territory and they will defend them!

This does not mean I think you should keep your iguana in an aquarium or tiny cage where they cannot climb.

In theory, I guess it would be nice to impose some kind of restrictions. The less iguanas sold the better I suppose.
