Taping heavy cardboard over the grass for now so he can't climb it? Also, if you can restrict him from climbing, you can maybe lower the lights. I use cookie/cake rack thingies to put my lights on so Tempest can't get to them, could you use a couple of those to lower the lights but stop him from climbing in them? About the only other thing I can think of, is asking the local humane society, or a local kennel, if you can borrow a dog crate for a while or buy a used one to use as a quarrentine cage. I pick up wire dog crates for around $50cdn, maybe that would do although I think he would still climb the sides unless you taped cardboard on the inside so there's no grip.
Is there any way you could raise the entire floor of his current cage, maybe with a piece of plywood and bricks or some other kind of shelf, and cover it with astroturf? Then he'd be up by his lights but not have to climb to get there either. Its always hard to have an injured pet, hope he heals up well for you!
:My ig is about 1 1/2' + or -. I don't know what I can do for quarantine because he loves to climb and i'm short on money (im 15 and have one part time job). I know for a fact he won't stay on the bottom of his cage because the backdrop of his cage is artificial grass and he knows that he can climb that. He will be on the meds for a month (30 days) Let me know what I could do!
