Unfortunately although some igs would be fine in this setup, I would seriously consider moving him out of it. Some igs are just too hard on themselves for any kind of wire cage (mine is). The funny thing is you may actually see a real change in behavior if you change the environment (for the better). Sleestack will not rub his nose much at all in a wood, melamine, glass, or plexi enclosure. If he does it a little during breeding season, these materials won't be too damaging anyway. However, put him in a screen or wire enclosure anytime of the year and he goes ballistic! He'll get bloody in 5 minutes! Maybe you could sell that cage and build another or use a bathroom or closet instead. Good luck...it sounds like a really horrible injury you are talking about and I'm betting he will reinjure himself if kept in that cage. I hope he heals quickly. :(
