In Reply to: argh! my ig can't seem to be potty trained... posted by shortydsm on March 21, 2003 at 16:01:44:
I have three igs, two go potty faithfully in the morning in their daily bath. Thats two of them. The other one, has done it twice in the bath, he will now sleep in there and wait me out. Once he is back in his cage, do you think he will go to the bottom and poop on the papers? NO, not him, he has to go on his shelf right under where he is comfortably sitting. I have tried different times, rewards for going in the tub, nothing works. He will wait me out too, I once kept him in there for hour and half, putting more warm water in and still nothing until he got back to his cage. Beats me.
He knows I do not like it. Hey maybe thats why. LOL
:...and he doesn't poop in his bath either! Question: how warm should the bath be? I have him free roaming 90% of the time (except when no one is home) and he just poops wherever he wants! He tends to favor the area near his heat pad, so I tried putting paper towels down, but he only pooped on half of it. I also tried the warm, wet newspapers in litter box but he doesn't go near that either. Is he a hopeless case? Though I have only had him for 3 days now (he is a 4 yr old, 3.5 foot adoptee). Any tips?!?!?
